The actual mystery was good, but there was an overly large chunk in the middle that detailed the entire life story of some of the people involved in the crime that I found unnecessary. I would have preferred that those details be summarized in a few paragraphs rather than a few chapters. I didn't care for that much detail over characters who were dead before the book began, and it was such a dramatic change, to go from detectives in London to Mormons in the desert. And the ending was rather anticlimactic, as the murderer is caught in the first half of the book. Overall, I really only enjoyed a third of this book.
