An interesting examination of girls' popular youth fiction in the first half of the 20th century, focusing specifically on aviation-themed series. The author traces the trends as they parallel, reflect, and sometimes defy real-world social trends of women's involvement in aviation, both recreationally and professionally. Also a good overview of the notable female achievements and participants in the early decades of powered flight.
