Upon reading the first few chapters of this novel, I wanted to ditch it because I am an Anne Boleyn sympathizer, and I did not enjoy the author's extreme characterization of the lady as pure selfishness and ambition. However, I stuck with the novel to the end, and once I got past the fact that this telling of the story was not to be credited as truth, I began to enjoy the court atmosphere permeating throughout, as well as the struggle of Mary Boleyn as she determined to step outside of the will of her family and to pursue a life that would bring much greater fulfillment than riches and celebrity.
