it was amazing

** spoiler alert ** In the Land of Strangers is a concoction of ten short stories with a cocktail of societal issues that the Sri Lankan author addresses. Each story deals with an issue of its own, not restricting it to a cultural concern, rather a universal one. Below is a three-word gist of each of the stories:

Lost: Marriage. Betrayal. Hope.
Passing Cloud: Love. Death. Loneliness.
Not without Her: Grief. Acceptance. Hope.
Devil’s Gift: Dowry. Abuse. Karma.
Nine to Five: Overtime. Sacrifice. Family.
The Journal: Assumption. Realization. Regret.
Dear Diary: Thoughts. Transience. Life.
Hope: Child. Loss. Healing.
A Bud of Love: Paralysis. Child. Care.
Whisperer: Marriage. Discord. Shaytan.
I love how these short stories evoke in us feelings of hope in times of despair, of love when it is needed, of empathy instead of sympathy, and of faith in times of hopelessness.

If you are in the mood for some lifting up of spirits, grab this e-book from here and embark on a soulful journey.

As I say, you can never go wrong with Zeneefa Zaneer’s books.
