Still not a fan of Evie. And what I keep thinking is: "I really hope I didn't act like that when I was 16."

But I also have to wonder, are Evie's struggles really representative of a teen perspective? Is this really the way a lot of teen girls see their world? Is the writing of Evie as this stereotypical creature then justified?

The questions may be worth asking, but I myself have no desire to communicate to young women that they should invest huge amounts of time and emotional energy obsessing about admission to college for no other reason than it is the college where your significant other goes to school. Wrong answer, ladies! I think the writing community can do better and imbue their female protagonists with a little more backbone and personal integrity.
