liked it

I enjoyed reading this book. It was well written and funny. For me the trouble was, that I have, what you might call, an agricultural background (my family have been fruitgrowers for as long as I can remember and then I also married a fruitgrower. My grandfather was a dairy farmer, who also had sheep). Besides: I live in the Netherlands, where situations are quite different. I can't imagine what the countryside in Minnesota is like and which problems go with it. The scale of farming in the US no doubt is greater than here. The point of view in the book is very American. It is also very much the one of a city person, beginning a farm. Lack of conscience comes with that. The huge amount of quotes the author gives, to prove (for herself?) that nothing is wrong with enjoying your animals and life on a farm in general shows some need for confidence.
I really liked the parts where the author is turned into a 'fiber freak'.
