4.5 stars. This was so much more than just the average thriller.

This book follows the story of missing child, Ben, who disappears when out for a walk in the woods with his mum. The case gains a lot of media attention but it also manages to gain the attention of online trolls who go out of their way to blame Ben's mother who had allowed him to run ahead of her when he went missing. Macmillan's writing here was fantastic! She really managed to make the reader connect emotionally to these characters, and show the pure devastation his family was feeling.

I wasn't particularly shocked by the ending, I had two people in mind from the beginning and it was one of them, but this didn't ruin my enjoyment of the book at all. I did actually find the ending very emotional, it was so well written that I actually found myself tearing up slightly. I loved the way it all wrapped up and everything was brought together. This is such an amazing book, and I cannot wait to read more of Macmillan's work.
