The most troubling flaw in Kelly 's vision of the future -- pardon me, also the present; the past; the universe -- is that it does not account seriously for the few billions of us who are less fortunate. This book does nothing to correct the common impression of techno-utopianism as self-indulgent and disingenuous. Sure, Kelly hauls out the Amish to prove that he's not just one of "those" Silicon Valley city slickers. In related news (and what some would call a courageous move), he connects it all to God (hardly a spoiler, since his entire argument rests heavily on the Divine). Anyone who expects humility from the devout is not going to find it in this book.
