Stephanie Plum is back on the job as a bounty hunter. Only, she seems to be the only bounty hunter on the job for Plum Bail Bonds. Her mentor and sometimes main squeeze Ranger has been building up his security business so he's been seen less and less around the office. This starts to create real issues for Stephanie as a woman is soon stalking her accusing Stephanie of sleeping with her husband, Ranger. And then Ranger's daughter is kidnapped from Florida and everyone is in hot pursuit to find the man of mystery.

I really enjoyed this 12th edition to the Plum series. I would have given it 3.5 stars if I could. Yes, there's more of the same with Stephanie torn between Morelli and Ranger, cars being blown up, family antics and one crazy case. But since Ranger is always shrouded in mystery this helps to humanize him a little. Stephanie also seems to be growing up a bit in her role as a bounty hunter and the responsibilities that she has in her life. Only real downside was that the ending of the book, like a couple of the other good Plum novels, just comes to a quick and dirty end. Great build up, chase and anticipation for the ending but then in 5 pages it's all over. Maybe less about the new funeral directors and more substance to the ending!
