"And the tree was happy…"

Children need to be taught to be respectful of boundaries and not be a victim of excessive kindness. "You could lay down for people and they'd still complain how you're not flat enough." Sacrificing yourself should not be a source of joy. True joy can't be possible without self care.

Children also need to be taught to not be greedy, exploitive and thankless.

I felt bad for the tree and angry on the boy. I'm giving it one additional star for the emotional effect it had.

This seems more like a dark satire than a children's book.
