The Silence of Our Friends
Feb 07, 2012
I don't often read graphic novels but I made an exception for this one because not only is it a book about the Civil Rights era, but even more intriguing, it is set in Houston! As a transplant to the city, I do not know much about the history (Civil Rights era or otherwise)of Houston. I was amazed, shocked, but by the end of the book, uplifted. This is a great story, an important story, and one that I think every Houstonian should read. The story focuses on two families, one white and one black, who try to work together to change the status quo in Houston. It's a slim little book but it packs a whallop! Please read it!
