An engaging and fun quasi-memoir of an American who learns how to parent like the French do. Essentially, "French parenting" is just what most Americans 50 years ago would have considered common sense: Give your kids boundaries; tell them "no"; have them eat like an adult; be clear about your expectations for behavior. It's not rocket science, but it's novel enough in modern American parenting to be considered revolutionary. This may be sad in itself, but I enjoyed this book for its light and aspirational reinforcement of parenting techniques I already think are a good idea. (Also, side note: Can I join a creche, just to take advantage of their glorious four-course meals for kindergarteners??)
