This was a really softly sweet (slightly fictionalised) autobiography from the author! It had a nod to The Family with Two Front Doors too! It's set in the 1960s, Australia, and kind of a tumbling up story of three little sisters and their everyday life, including how they celebrate their Jewish heritage and buy ice creams for half a penny. Anna is really obsessed with collecting her own antique doll after she fell in love with the book Hitty (I remember that book!). The whole book reminded me a lot Little House on the Prairie...I could see my 6yo niece being in love with this book.
