My initial reaction to the book --- it is an achingly beautiful tale of self sacrifice; however after much thinking about the character of Syrenka, the things she have done and the decisions she had made --- karma just really bites you in the ass.

I have to admit, this is one of the books beautifully written. The transition from the past to the present and vice versa was effectively executed. I find the story unpredictable and truly leaving you aching for more.

I suppose what I really liked about the book lies on the concept that you cannot get anything without giving up something. This is not a tale of happily ever after, rather how much can you sacrifice for that happiness.
