Set during Queen Elizabeth I's reign and dealing with some of the political tension between supporters of Elizabeth and supporters of Mary of Scots, its a murder mystery and a spy story with Giordano Bruno as the main character. Bruno, as well as most of the characters, were real people which I usually object to. I don't like when writers borrow real people or popular characters and put them in situations they weren't in originally. But Bruno was completely unknown to me until I googled him so its much easier to forgive. Ironically, I really enjoy historical fiction so it worked out well. This isn't a deep book or terribly informative on subjects that interest me but it was good enough. I would read another book in this series.
