Okay, I know that this is marketed as being a "quick read", but I found it to be way too quick. The story just had no real depth to it. Dolly was simply not likeable enough and the story as a whole felt too generic - it could have just been any old post-war story. The characters weren't real enough and you couldn't get as invested in them in particular, they all felt bland and two-dimensional. Also, all the "big" events just went past too fast without any fanfare - 30 odd pages in, oh suddenly the war's over.
