really liked it
bookshelves: read2019, reviewcopy

A family confronts turmoil when two members are sent to prison, forcing three generations to come together and confront pain from the past.

I liked the alternating viewpoints but the story felt a bit sloggy in the beginning. I was surprised by the sudden arrival of a character with an active eating disorder, something which seems important to the author but might not be good for readers who have similar issues to read (but it does come back around in an important way.) Once I got to the halfway point if felt smooth, connected, and a story of significance.

I was sent a copy from the publisher in exchange for an honest review so here it is. This book comes out February 19.
