Holden Caulfield just cannot stop complaining, can he? However, through his endless criticism, he opens our eyes. The strongest element of this novel is surely its point of view. Through first person narration, we’re bonded to Holden character. I remember the first time I read this novel I really wanted to smack Holden. But as the story goes, I tended to think that I agreed with him. And he gradually became the little brother figure that I really wanted to save and caress. Done the right thing, Mr. Salinger.
