Trite story of an attempt to topple several governments at one go by a group of people consisting of both idealistic patriots and unscrupulous scoundrels. The epicurean Count with his harem and retinue of African servants adds a touch of the fantastical to the entire proceedings. And what exactly was Carstairs doing in the book? My first Col. Granby hasn't impressed me much.
