it was amazing

I really don’t know where to begin with this review because the 75th anniversary illustrated edition is stunning and I am overwhelmed by its beauty.

I’ve always been interested in Greek mythology but I never had a whole book that would help me understand the relationships between Titans, Olympian Gods, Demi-gods and humans. But this one served its purpose. Not only we have the family trees that help us know who is related to who, but also how they get involved with the great heroes such as Achilles, Odysseus, Hercules, Aeneas, etc. The Trojan War also has its place here, which is something I’m really grateful for, since The Iliad is a work I don’t fancy that much.

Either way, Edith Hamilton takes the information from diverse poets like Ovidius, Vergil and Homer. So we have quite a few different perspectives from all stories.

One of my favorite treats was that the illustrations were breath-taking. Now, as you can imagine, I am a simple person, so if I see an illustrated book, I’m always fascinated by the work both author and artist made. But this one in particularly took me to another place.

This is definitely one of my favorite books that I’ve read this year (2019) and I wish I could tell you more about, but I simply can’t. You’ll have to read it to find out why.

All I can say is that my whole experience with this book made me feel like a kid on Christmas, because every time I grabbed it, I felt joy in my heart.

I'm reading it in a slow peace, though."

Prometheus is one of my favorite gods.
And the story about Demeter and Persephone is somehow beautiful.
Dionysus is also a god that I find really interesting.
Even Hermes, with his cocky attitude, and his weird sense of honor too."

I'm almost half way through and I've been loving every single thing, but I gotta be honest, remembering all those names it's a challenge, especially when they come in Roman or Latin."

And... every time I read about the Trojan War, I feel so sad about it. Many lives were lost for the sake of Olympian Gods' childish desires.
I am keen on Achilles and Patroclus relationship (wether is romantic or not)."
