I really wanted to love this book. But I couldn't.

What I liked: The use of visual elements other than text. I like that the author is appreciative of other art forms. Grandfather Thomas Schell's story. The answer to the key and the one encounter having to do with that.

What I didn't like: Oskar, I found him irritating. The grandma, also found her irritating, and whiney to boot. The mom, she was so absent that it bugged me. The writing style (ughh!!!).

I didn't like Everything is Illuminated by Foer either. I think he's just not my author.
