it was ok
bookshelves: discworld, fantasy, src-winter-2011-12, british

This was really disappointing. The plot felt too long and sprawling, and Vimes wasn't speaking like himself (he used the word 'shit' to express frustration at one point). His relationship with Sybil also seemed odd, somehow.

Frankly, I had no idea what was happening at times with the various characters, and not very much interest in continuing to find out what was happening. I thought the themes rather repetitive of his previous concerns - he's 'done' racial discrimination/prejudice before, after all - surely there's something else to say?

I love Pratchett - when he's good, he's sublime. But his prose is starting to sound a little creaky, and I fear for his next few books too.
