it was amazing
bookshelves: children-s-picture-book

Annabelle has a magic box of yarn. She knits a colorful sweater for herself and finds she has enough for her dog, Mars. So she knits him one too and still has some left over. She knits a sweater for Nate, still she has yarn, soon the whole town is wearing her rainbow sweaters. But a selfish archduke hears of this magical box and comes and takes it away. But when he gets to his far off dukedom the box is empty. Angry he throws it into the sea. And magically it makes its way back to Annabelle...with yarn. The story is fable like but not too preachy. Readers young and old will enjoy this fresh tale about generosity and kindness. Jon Klassen's is quickly becoming one of my favorite illustrators and he does not dissapoint in this book either. His clever recreation of the texture of yarn with rainbow colors exudes the warmth and happiness of the story perfectly.
