it was amazing

I can't imagine a set of characters I have more in common with than those in the pages of this book: academic writers who bounce around the Midwest and finally end up in New York (though, at the end, they own a brownstone in the West Village, which isn't quite the same as our one bedroom in Fort Greene). Henkin does a great job of developing characters and of drawing plot up through their inner lives, so that all the tension feels true and elegant. An unsettling and accurate portrait of the writing life.
