it was amazing
bookshelves: brilliant

It is not everyday that a character like Eleanor Oliphant comes my way. Every page was a roller coaster ride between my gleeful enjoyment of her brutal assessment of common social customs and experiences, to screaming in horror "don't say that!" and of course the moments where she touched my heart so deeply. I celebrate her incredible resilience, and I will be recommending this remarkable novel to many friends.

I actually chose to read this novel after feeling that perhaps the past ten years of my life have gone by in a bit of blur of contentment only to find at the end of them I'm not so very contented with what I have to show for them. Reading this book has definitely helped me at a time where I'm expanding my horizons.
