really liked it

Once I got over the excessive use of adverbs, the style of this 1938 hit wowed me. Cocaine, cocktails, lovers, has it all, with strong female friendships to boot. A Cinderella story at heart, it's like being transported into Nick and Nora's world. The Persephone edition is illustrated as was the original, which just made me adore it even more. Summer is the perfect time to read this gem, and I recommend a glass of something either bubbly or frothy to go along with it.
