Sadly, I found this book to suffer overly from "exposition-itis" and consequently to be quite ... awkward.

I thought it might clear up over the first 50 pages or so, but no, it limped on and on. Some of the dialogue it dragged out of otherwise worthy characters was verging on criminal (sorry about that pun).

Wanting follow-on stories from the Austen oeuvre is like wanting a second bowl of ice-cream and cake after a lovely meal - Ill-advised in theory and unsatisfying in practise.
