Humorous, psychotic, depressing, uninhibited, and intense are all feelings I left with after reading Irvine Welsh's trainspotting. Originally reading this novel for a Social Issues project in English class, I became entranced by the Edinburgh society of excessive drug use, disillusionment and moral decay. The main characters all grew on me, in various hilarious and intense ways, and it wasn't until the final conclusion of the novel where I gave my head a shake and realized I just read one of the craziest, most enjoyable novels I had read in a long time. I love the movie, but the book is 100% more fulfilling and extreme.
