it was amazing

Funny collection of stories/essays by one of the best writers of confessional/expository writing out there. The final story (the longest) one is an account of the author's attempt to quit smoking--by moving to Japan. That one got a little tedious, although his description of the city and his surroundings was worth making it through.

Some of the highlights include a reminiscence of a scary redneck babysitter, a boarding house with an offbeat landlady (with even crazier relatives), and his mother-in-law's Guinea Worm.

Not as edgy as "Barrel Fever" or "Naked," but still a nice place in the road for this writer to be at this point in his life.
