Alice Hoffman is a unique writer. I love her books because she always has a way of making a believeable story with highly imagineable characters and sneaks in a bit of make-believe, or magic! It is so subtle that you don't think about the impossible until the story is over. At least thats how I feel after her books. I like it but then I say, "wait a minute, that could never happen!" Blackbird House is about a Farm House (Blackbird House) on the Cape that strings along different families over many years. I always feel cheated when I read good short stories and this book is really a collection of them but they are all tied together by Blackbird House. I want to know more about the characters and each short story could be its own entire book!
