Whoa. Double whoa.

This book is so very different from the others in that Beka is not working in the underworld of some city, but engaged on a cross-country Hunt of some pretty horrible people who see nothing wrong with kidnapping little princes, turning their own allies to goo, and engaging in treason of the highest order.

The plot twist threw me, and the only reason I was able to shrug it off was because this book takes place two years after Bloodhound and all manner of things could have happened in that time.

I found the very ending, linking Beka back to George more than a little forced, but it did give me the urge to re-read some of the earlier Tortall books.
