really liked it
bookshelves: non-fiction, memoir

A Three Dog Life is Abigail Thomas' memoir of her life with her husband after he is struck by a car and suffers a traumatic brain injury. It's an interesting work, not as sentimental as some books of this nature are. Some of the reviews claim it is not depressing, although I thought it was, which is entirely reasonable. I was intrigued by the strangely poetic things her husband would say after his injury, like "All these people dunking their doughnuts in a cup of sorrow, I hope it's not contaminated by the River Styx."
