really liked it

“Women in their sixties and early seventies are crossing a border and everything interesting happens at borders.”

This book is packed with gems of wisdom about growing older and navigating “our last stretch of river.” (Seriously. I highlighted so many passages in this book!) That said, it was quite a bit more rambling than I expected, and it took me a surprisingly long time to finish.

I really loved the “navigational” theme – showing aging as a flowing journey. What didn’t work for me, though, were the anecdotes of the various people woven through the book. I never really felt like I connected with them, and when the same people would pop up here and there, I had a really hard time remember their backstories.

Overall, a nice read about women and aging. Well done. Wonderful observations. Inspirational.

Recommended for those navigating the river!
