5 stars!

Sean Evans ... I love you :)

Ilona Andrews just wacks me in the face with awesomeness anytime I open one of their books. Good lord, the duo knows how to write urban fantasy and, this series taught me, sci-fi!

10/10 recommend this series. It's badASS in a whole new way not often explored by authors of this genre. Dina Demille is a powerful woman, but she's not an ass-kicking, motorcycle-boot-wearing, knife-wielding kind of badass. She's a woman, kind and soft, who has unbelievable power and a resolve of steel. It's nice to see a woman act like an everyday woman, but still be an ass-kicker, just of a different variety. She doesn't need to be a ninja, and she doesn't need to clomp around angrily to be powerful, and I love her for it.

(Don't get me wrong, I love my ninjas and my clomping-around ass-kickers, Dina is just a refreshing variety).
