really liked it

I could only take this in very small bites. Each chapter takes more out of you than its predecessor, it seems, as the open sores on the sordid underbelly of the nation are exposed via heartbreaking interviews with Americans whose lives have been ruined by opioid addiction, gambling, unemployment, the porn/human traffic 'industry', etc. Essential stuff, for sure, but tough on the stomach.

Mark André @ George, I shamefully have to admit I had no knowledge of who Mr. Hedges was or what his point of view might be until I just read the first four paragraphs of the lead article on the site your link just sent me to. He has instantly become my hero. His attack upon the media thrilled me, as I avowed a quite similar attitude myself. Thank you for a fascinating insight. I truly did not believe that their were any intelligent people, speaking out, left in our country. I will read more.

George! Sorry man, end of a long work day here and my brain is fried: does that mean that you and your friend work at Truthdig, or what?!

D'uh and D'oh!
(Never mind, George, the truth eventually dug into my noggin, though my natural obtusitude laboured to keep it at bay)

Ha, love the Homer exclamation.

No worries on the mistake. Read the review and reminded me of the author's articles. Thought I would share.

Mark, you should check out Hedge's "On Contact" show: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list...

Each episode is about 10 min, where Hedges interviews a guest (usually author) on a pressing topic. Great introduction on topics and ideas for future readings, and some top notch guests (Vijay Prashad, Michael Hudson, Noam Chomsky, Matt Taibbi, Aaron Mate, etc.)

Cheers Bill, yeah it's easy to miss these nowadays given the plethora of platforms. I personally avoid articles, favoring either videos (quick and easy) or books (in-depth) ;)
