it was amazing

Halberstam is a great story teller of history. Meticulous, comprehensive research and personal interviews of the players make his re-telling of the events leading up to our involvement in Vietnam compelling. His cameo portraits of the private lives of the players who got us into that mess help the reader understand their actions. We got sucked in through 'folly and self-deception', plain and simple. thank you JFK and all your advisers, aka the best and the brightest.
