I read this for SFPBO
This book was ok. I enjoyed it more than the other books in this book-off (not to mention actually finished it) primarily because, despite the fact that the setting is supposed to be steampunk, this book is like 97% a romance novel, which is right up my alley. Wow, that was a long run on sentence.
Really, the steampunk setting could be completely irrelevant, because it didn't factor into the story. Remove the mentions of airships, and this could easily be a romance novel. A regency novella of a forbidden tryst between a nobleman and an actress. This is stuff I actually understand. It was uncomplicated and short, which is as much a failing as much as it makes the book easy to read. It was a very, very simple short story.
