it was amazing
bookshelves: extracurricular-fiction
Read in June, 2002

I was unemployed and depressed the summer of my senior year of college. My roommate and I went out nearly every day applying for jobs and came home beaten and defeated. Because we were completely broke, for the first time since childhood most of the books I read came from the library. And anyway I read "Lolita" because I didn't have anything better to do and it was an incredibly compelling, funny and beautiful book. It's a smart book and it made me feel smart every time I caught onto one of the book's obscured in-jokes or puns. Perfect. Fabulous. Somehow it was an anti-depressant and it got me reading Nabokov like a fiend.
