This book was an amazing way to teach valuable lessons about oneself, survival, and nature in the name of fiction. Hatchet detailed the feelings of a boy who was feeling the pain of his parents' divorce. This is an experience that everyone can relate to. It showed how Brian grew as a person and learned from his mistakes. It also included how things aren't always as they appear in the media or in books. Brian had to open his mind to a new way of life, and he succeeded in being positive even in the bleakest of circumstances. This book was wonderful!
