it was amazing

One of the most enjoyable and informative reads of Kathleen Ernst's now nine-book Chloe Ellefson series. Chloe, a curator of historical artifacts, travels to northeast Wisconsin to study the history and culture of the Belgian community--farmers, lacemakers, and builders of lovely wayside chapels. She becomes embroiled in mysteries which range from a missing piece of antique lace to a dead body found stuffed inside an old bake oven. Eventually Chloe's love interest, small-town cop Roelke McKenna, arrives on an unrelated mission--just in time to get involved in Chloe's mysteries. Meanwhile, the reader is treated to a gripping parallel tale of nineteenth-century Belgian immigrants, including the very folks whose history Chloe is busy tracing in lace and blood. Another A++ effort!
