We are Okay By Nina Lacour
I loved this book, the way it was written, the way she brings us into the tormented world of the MC, and we gradually learn the legitimacy of her distress and grief. Her turnaround happens a little too fast (all over Christmas vacation), but it’s a novel, so I can be forgiving of the unrealistic nature of the “cure” to her grief.
Something that bothered me was the title. It seemed a little defensive and too general . If the MC needs to assert that, it made me feel that maybe she wasn’t really OK. Also, it seemed a little wanting in imagination. The book is so well-written and imagined, I felt the author could have come up with a more apt title, one that tied in with the theme of the book.
Overall, I highly recommend this book.
