really liked it

I'm really glad I finally read this. It's one of those books I've been meaning to read now for a couple of decades (since I first saw the miniseries) and the book didn't disappoint. It was a surprisingly funny and easy read. I might have expected the humour (which was present in the adaptation), but the effortlessness of the prose was a truly pleasant surprise and Anne's rambling monologues that went of for literal pages at a stretch were a joy to read.

My friend Alexis said she never read past the first book because she never wanted Anne to grow up. I get that. I may eventually read the subsequent books, but not now. For now I'm happy savoring this perfect little slice of Anne Shirley's imaginative life.
