Another good read from an author I have been reading since 1984. The protaganist has the usual traits of a Jim Harrison character: large appetite for food, drink and sex. This is the only protaganist of his that I can remember being a lawman, though retired. Many of his protaganists are eluding or sceptical of law enforcement. The book is peppered with asides about Native Americans and their history, the reading of books, health or the lack of,and mother nature with all her settings and creatures, another Harrison trait.
