This was the first book in the James Bond series that I've read, although it's the third book in the series. I have to say, I picked up this book out of them all because I'd seen the film, and I was a little disappointed that the stories were completely different. I think this was because I enjoyed the film when I was younger.

As for the book itself, I actually much preferred the story in the book. I think the thing that I liked was that Ian Fleming's writing style had a good flow to it, and once I got into the story, I couldn't put the book down. I also liked the way how Bond himself was described, and this was helped by the portrayal of the character in the films.

All in all, I enjoyed reading the book, and I enjoyed the story, and was glad the book wasn't extremely long and took to long to get going. I will definitely read more of the James Bond series after reading this book, which was picked up purely on impulse.
