it was amazing
bookshelves: fiction

This 2011 book read like a 129 page prose poem. It is amazing. The stories are about Japanese picture brides brought to California in the early 1900s.
Continuing with their lives until after Pearl Harbor, when thousands of Japanese-Americans were interned as suspicious or as spies and other paranoid reasons. A great injustice, but Otsuka tells the story straight and never preaches. Wonderful experience to read this book.
