really liked it
bookshelves: 2019-reads, reread, ya, general-fiction

I nearly quit my reread of this old book. The language is so dated and I was sure I wouldn't enjoy it at all. The regular uses of "golly" and "for" this and that were a bit annoying but by the time the kids were locked in the attic a while, I was hooked again, just like I was as a teenager.

Yes, this old-ish lady bought the sequel, Petals on the Wind this morning, too. I can't remember if I read past book three all those years ago, and I won't commit to reading past book two now, but I suppose some stories are truly timeless. What's not to love about a well-done evil mother revenge story?
