it was amazing
bookshelves: 2012

This is the third book in the Morganville Vampire series and I am thoroughly enjoying it. I'm not very far into it, but so far the story is engaging.

I have noticed a few things about this series so far:

1. The dialogue is fantastic. The author writes how people actually speak, which I appreciate. The attitudes of the characters seem very realistic to me, as well.

2. The author has a nice handle on the long-term story arc. There's plenty of immediate, in-your-face, edge-of-seat action and suspense, but she's craftily drawing out the longterm action, as well.

3. It is a little odd to me that all of the men in the story, be them actual men, or just grown-up boys, are quite tall, quite muscular, and make Claire (the main character) feel precious and wee. Apparently no one in Morganville is plump or pimply or wears glasses or braces or walks with a limp or dresses like a dork.

4. I really like it that the author puts the characters into uncomfortable situations.

Good stuff so far!
