it was amazing
bookshelves: manga, physical-copy

Ever since watching DEVILMAN Crybaby, I have wanted to read the original manga. And wow, did it not disappoint. The art style is quaint and the monster designs are stupendous. The arcs are pretty brief, but very self-contained. It feels a little monster-of-the-week but it works because of the world-building.

The Netflix show is pretty faithful to the manga, but with an element I am glad they left out in favor of more local events. Because the time-warp demon war was a trip and a half. Very bizarre, but so genuine and so morally grey.

A lot of my favorites, Berserk, Neon Genesis Evangelion, and Claymore, have drawn inspiration and it shows.
