I really enjoyed this delightful and heartfelt story set at Christmas time in the early 1900s. From the very first page I was drawn into Amelia Ware’s world, seeing her new surroundings through her eyes, and thinking she’s just the kind of friend or little sister I’d love to have.
The story is very well paced, with plenty of action and suspense; but what I most enjoyed was the stand Amelia and other characters in the book take when they find themselves face-to-face with prejudice and hate; Amelia and her family don’t hesitate to care for others as Christ taught us to do, and I loved that about her.
This is a short book (about 100 pages), which I devoured in one sitting. This is the first book I’ve read by this author, and I’m looking forward to reading more of her stories. I happily recommend this joyful and entertaining Christmas read!
