I have been listening to the series on audiobook, but this one was not recorded so I read it to continue the storyline.
I will say this was not as engaging as the other five have been. Even Anne's House of Dreams had memorable characters and interesting plots running throughout, this one lacked both those. I did like that she gave a couple stories to each of the children to develop each character individually.
A couple other reviews I've read comment that there is not enough Anne-wisdom in this book. It's true that only a couple chapters are told from Anne's point of view, but I still felt that I was learning from Anne by her interactions with her children. In particular one of them said, "Mummy never laughs at me, she always understands." There is a good Anne-lesson.
Overall, I feel that this book belongs more as a "Further Chronicles of..." and not a part of the main series. I wish it had continued the story of Anne and the other characters we know and love.
